CIFS with Ubuntu 7.10

Hello,

Should it be possible to connect to Alfresco CIFS via the internet, or does CIFS work only on a LAN?

I've installed Alfresco community 2.1 on Ubuntu 7.10 and verified that it is running on the server.

But, I'm not clear how to connect to that machine from a Windows XP box via the internet.  When I try to map the drive, I've tried:

\\xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa:1139\alfresco
\\xxx.yyy.zzz.aaa\alfresco

and some other combinations, but these don't work.

Thanks!

Good evening Ghernado,
the only difference between internet and LAN should be, that there are firewalls in between. At least, if you are using tcp/ip in your lan area. So if your firewall allow for the access, it will work. Now you only have the problem of having all those hackers and bot banging on another port in your systems 🙂 *scnr*

The only other option would be using netbios without tcp/ip, but the last pure "Windows" Lan, that I met, was shut of 4 Years ago.
