CIFS problem: Server name limitation!!! :(

Hello,

I'm trying to configure CIFS to work in my Alfresco, but my server name is "Ncednobregadac" :shock:  and I think there is a limitation in windows as to the number of characters is there any work around for this case or do I have to use the "_A" after the servers name?

I didn't want to change the servers name as it would have other implications and I'm just trying out Alfresco for the moment.

I'm using Windows 2000

And the  alfresco-1.3.0-windows-community.exe installation package.

I'm hoping to get the CIFS feature to work…

Hi,

The default file-servers.xml configuration uses the Windows server name + '_A' so that it generates a unique name on the network. You could just change the <host name="…" value to a shorter name, as long as it is unique on your network.

The NetBIOS name is limited to 15 characters, the 16th character indicates the service type.
