CIFS plugin not working in Firefox 2?

Alfresco,

We are planning to upgrade to Firefox 2 here and apparently the CIFS plugin to enable Firefox's file:// protocol is not working in Firefox 2. It shows a message that this version is not supported.

Maybe this is just a small setting in the plugin that blocks higher Firefox versions and maybe the plugin just works without this restriction?

Can anyone have a look at this?

Thanks!

On what version of firefox 2?

I do not have any problems installing 0.91 on Firefox 2.0.0.11 on ubuntu. If it is actually usable on ubuntu is another matter, but I do not get any error when installing/starting. Can you be more specific on the error?

Have a look at http://forge.alfresco.com/projects/firefox-ext/ and the source if you can see any version dependencies. My understanding is that this is the project for the extension, but there is also a compiled version in the Alfresco SVN source tree.

What other plugins do you run? Maybe some other plugin is in conflict. Try disabling all of them.

I've just tried downloading 0.91 from SourceForge and installed successfully on Firefox 2.0.0.11 on WinXP SP2.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks both of you. There are 2 plugin-ins to make things more confusing. There is the Forge (v0.9) and Sourceforge (v0.91) plugin. The first one doesn't work here (Firefox 2), the second one does.

So it seems the Forge version should be updated or even better, move the Sourceforge version to Forge and close the Sourceforge page…
