CIFS is not working. 3C Win XP

After my install of 3C CIFS will not work.  I have added the path to the Alfresco\bin to my path to get the required dll's.  Would this have anything to do with it?

It's working.  I finally found the reference to adding an A to the end of the hostname.  This makes it work. 

Since my host is alfresco…

CIFS file share: \\alfrescoA\Alfresco\

Odd, why is this?

After I removed 3C and installed 3d and did a few mods to get it going I think all the error messages are gone and WebDav, CIFS and the Web Client are all working.  http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=16475

It's so you can run the "normal" Windows file sharing in parallel with Alfresco's. It's less relevant on *nix/Mac system where you can completely disable smb networking.
