Hello! First of all : congratulations for the good features.
Yesterday I've installed Alfresco and everything run wonderful. However today I try using CIFS. I copied the Win32NetBIOS.dll into windows/system32, then I start tomcat, but an ugly exception appears, and at the end of stacktrace print, my computer hanged up, so I have to push the power button to restart my computer. I've working with win xp pro.
I cannot provide the logs, because after the computer hang, I can do nothin except restart the computer.

Thanks,
João

Hi,

What is the hardware spec of the PC you're running the code on ?, what version of Java are you using (major/minor/patch level) ?

Can you try the changing the <Win32NetBIOS> entry in the file-servers.xml file (in the WEB-INF\classes\alfresco folder) to the following :-

  <Win32NetBIOS api="netbios"/>

Cheers

Gary

Hello Gary,
Thanks for you reply. I try to change that configuration, in file-servers.xml as you said. After that the machine doesn't hang up any more, but the CIFS just don't work at all. I been using the RC2. Today I will install the stable version and try again. After that if the problem persists I will send that information for you, because at the moment I'm not in my machine.

BTW, do you know any problems similar like this?
Thanks,
João

Hi,

There have been one or two cases where there's been a problem with the JNI code that the CIFS server uses when running on Windows. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem on any machines here, and don't have enough information yet to figure out the cause.

Have you got NetBIOS enabled on the main network adapter (on the TCP/IP Properties->Advanced->WINS tab) ?.

When the Alfresco server is running check if the CIFS server name has been registered by using the 'nbtstat -n' command.

Cheers

Gary

Hello Gary,
I upgraded to v1 and the problem remains. When I started tomcat, and without changing the file-servers.xml as you said. I also ensured that netBios was enabled. The result was the computer hang again.
My Java version is:
java version "1.5.0_05"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_05-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_05-b05, mixed mode, sharing)
The output log produced was :

Hi,

When the Alfresco server is running what's the output of an 'nbtstat -n' command ? (that should list the NetBIOS name table).

Cheers

I need to see the output of the nbtstat command, not the netstat command.

Can you show me the output from 'nbtstat -n'.

Hi,

It looks like you haven't got NetBIOS enabled on your network adapter. Check the Network Connection->TCP/IP Properties->Advanced->WINS tab and enable NetBIOS.

Cheers
