CIFS and different networks

Have been trying CIFS over a variety of :
1. networks
2. with only one linux host
3. various different clients (gnome, kde, apple, windows).

Basically it sometimes does not quite work.

One annoying message is "no network provider accepted the given network path". Although the web-page to the alfresco-server opened fine.

Does anybody have:

1. some central point of reference for CIFS, other than the Microsoft white paper. User community ? (google could not find me one so far)
2. any suggestions for avoiding the above error (maybe SSL??, then the network provider will not see what is being done underneath)

Regards

Hi,

Were you able to create CIFS access from a network other than the one where the alfresco server is installed? (Example - Alfresco server installed in network A, you want to access it from a different network B. When you try to map a network drive from within network B, you dont see the alfresco cifs server in network A)

Could you get around this issue?

Regards.
