CIFS - am I being thick?

When I try to map a drive to CIFS Server (I have tried '\\myserver_a\alfreco' and just '\\myserver_a' - not sure which is right) it asks for a username and password.

What is it looking for  - I have tried my domain username and password and admin and admin and got nowhere - help!

What version are you running?
Is it a default installation (from fresh or did you have a prior installation)?
What happens on the web client?
