Hi,
I have a project with a requirement to support multiple web sites. Will it be possible to have documents that are stored within "classic" Alfresco become part of the managed web sites? For example, imagine we've used Alfresco to manage a critical PDF file. Now we want that PDF file to be part of multiple web sites. Further, any updates to the PDF need to be reflected on the sites.
Is this possible with Alfresco WCM? Perhaps with links? How would we approach this problem.
Thanks,
Fred

Fred - good question.
For our GA release, we will be providing Javascript bindings for web content. For any document in a normal Alfresco space, you can create a content rule that matches on a metadata attribute (for example, "publish to internet" or "publish to intranet") and then copies that document or moves a generated rendition (pdf) to a specific directory in the website. In turn, a workflow can be kicked off to assign a task to a content manager or member of the production team (a publisher) to review the submission, accept or reject it, and set additional metadata needed for the website (launch date, expiration date, target audience, etc.).
Post GA, within the form, we will also allow you to search the entire Alfresco repository and, if you select a business document, allow you to import directly into the website either as-is or in an appropriate rendition (pdf). For GA, when browsing to link to an existing resource, it will be presumed that the document has already been "published" to the website via a content rule.
Let me know if that works / answers your question.

Kevin,
That's great. Sounds like that will be our solution.
Thanks,
Fred

Kevin,
Do you imagine that in the future we will be able to leverage the link feature in WCM from other websites and in particular from DM/RM spaces?
I am timid to use the word classic alfresco in that I understand that the separation is only a matter of temporary condition.
