I have approximately 30 documents, pdf, spreadsheets, etc that currently exist on the same computer box that I have just installed Alfresco.

I want to know if it's possilble to do a bulk upload of these 30 documents, pdfs, and spreadsheets to Alfresco?  If so, how?  thanks.

Sure, there are a number of ways depending on what you've configured:

1 - zip them up then use import from the Alfresco Explorer web client
2 - use WebDAV (at /alfresco/webdav)
3 - use CIFS
4 - use FTP

Thanks,
Mike

MikeH, I believe that works in the event that I want the files to appear in Alfresco as a zip file.  Rather I need them to appear in Alfresco as 30 separate files and not 1 zip.

I am using the web client and I believe the web client allows one file upload at a time.  Is there maybe a way to upload these files using a batch script…If so, to what directory(ies) would they be stored?

Use the Import in the More Actions menu. The ZIP file will be unZIPped by Alfresco into the individual files in the space you are in when you choose the Import action.

Hey MikeH and chemeddl,

Is there a file size limit to the file upload function in the web client?  or is this less of an alfresco issue and more of a tomcat issue–if so, what in tomcat should I tweak to allow large file uploads.  Thx again.

I import a zip file but that zip file is not extracted as files and folders in the alfresco space.  It was uploaded as a file, when i import a zip file.

balamurugan.p,

Make sure to do the import by using the Import item from the More Actions drop down menu that is found in Alfresco Explorer with the Add Content, Create, More Actions, and Details View items near the top of the content area of the page.

I hope this helps.

Hi djpme,

Did you find a resolution to the upload file size issue? Is there a limitation on maximum volume that can be uploaded to a space? I am using the labs3 stable version on RHEL 5 and my database is MySQL 5. I am facing problems in importing file size more than 130 MB (mostly documents and images).  Did anyone else face similar issues? Any response will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Prinan
