best practices in modeling a structure

I have been looking for any paper where Alfresco recommends the best practices in making a good structure about numbers of documents per folder and the number of folder depth.I am thinking in a aplicattion where the searchs are importants and more and less the numer of files could reach 50000…and I will use opcencmis and a custom app to manage it

folowing my search I have fond several topics about the problem of trying to select more than 1000 documents… there is a limitation of lucene in 1000 documents and in time… it could be changed but I think that it is better to avoid it… so it would be better to have a structure of folders similar to year/month and so on.

to sum up, there isn't a standard recommendation, is there? but you have to think that you will have to use an amount of memorey when you are opening a folder or you are making a select…. and 1000 documents sound too much.
