I am looking for an OS and version on which Alfresco 3C just installs and works.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Install 3D / Stable via the bundled installers all of them should get you up and running quickly.

I use win xp sp3, a fair number of my collegues use OS X,  and most production instances of Alfresco are on Linux.      I'd go with whatever O.S. you are most at home with.

I am now running on windows XP.   Is there any special trick to get CIFS working?

Per a reply from a developer - the development platform is Windows and MySQL.

Version 3 will not support PostgreSQL till Patch 1 per the web page.

You might want to try 3D as there is at least one bug fixed that I ran into.

Not strictly true - about half of us use OS X, but yes MySQL is bar far the most popular db.

Actually, please use http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Download_Labs instead.

Thanks,
