We have an alfresco installation on a Windows 2003 server with mySQL. What are the best practices to upgrade to 2.1 and add WCM?
Should I run the install program?
Should I just copy war files over?
I would like to keep my current configuration, spaces, rules….
Thanks,
Chris

I also would be very interested in a 'how-to upgrade' white paper - or something like this.

I have the same problem and only found this:
http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/General_Upgrade_Process
For some unedited installations it might be also be simple way to just export the hole root space and then import it in the new installation. But remind that this solution overwrites all customized configurations.
I haven´t tried to update to 2.1 yet, but I would also be interessted in other users experiences.
Best regards,
Simon

hello baim40,
I was thinking about loosing your configuration that is stored in the configuration files. Meaning the database configuration and custom datafields for example. Or customised *.jsp files. Because these files must be configured again, after the installation, if I´m right.
About your question if the rules, spaces config, and so on will be lost… I don´t know. But this configuration should be stored in the database, which will not be touched by the upgrade… I think. I just haven´t had time for testing. Did somebody upgraded and can share his/her experiences about this issue?
kind regards,
Simon
