Basic question...

Hi,

I'm currently working on the configuration of Alfresco 2.1 CE. The software will be mainly used to upload images, without any text content. The problem is that I have to find a way to access the files by using the search engine. Is there a field that the basic search can access where I can put a description of the file? (because it doesn't work with the description field that has to be searched specifically via the advanced search)

Thx

Hi Ash

The first thing I thought might help was adding some more indexing options to the contentModel.xml but wasn't able to get the basic search working.
The alfresco guys may be able to say if this is impossible or if I just didn't do it right.

The second alternative is to write a web script that executes the advanced search from a simple url. I don't know if you can put a link to your webscript in the UI but you can of course put it into your portal, or browser bookmarks.

Here's the web scripts wiki page http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Web_Scripts
Also the ecmarchitect white paper is a good starting point http://ecmarchitect.com/archives/2007/10/25/777
