Are categories broken in Version: Community Network- v2.9.0?

I have two installations of Alfresco community going at the moment.

Categories work fine on my 2.1 installation,
but in Version: Community Network - v2.9.0 (B 683) (TomCat), whilst I can still add and edit categories fine using the administration console,
if I try to choose/apply categories when looking at content properties, or in the Advanced Search dialog,
it just gets stuck - a rectangular panel opsn with a little rotating circle with two round arrows in the middle (i.e. looks like a
"loading, please wait" type icon) but it never loads and presents me with a list of categories…
I'm using Firefox 3.0 on WinXP SP3 for my web client.

OK, I retested it using Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 instead of Firefox,
and it would fine - the little applet loaded in less than a second and I could chose categories.

I guess OpenSource isn't always better   Smiley Indifferent

cheers for the tip! Smiley Happy
I think I'll just keep using IE in the meantime though.

Even with the category picker working, that version is hugely laborious to use - you can only select one category at a time,
and have to keep clicking backwards and forwards in a very unintuitive way.
PLUS (more importantly), when I try to display lots of categories with a presentation template, it slows Alfresco down so much I have to just disable it again.
