Anonymous LDAP binding

Dear Alfresco,

I'm evaluating Alfresco 3.0 SP1 Enterprise with LDAP synchronization. Our LDAP supports anonymous binding, this works fine in our current 2.1 Enterprise installation. With the new version I need to specify the ldap.authentication.java.naming.security.principal and  ldap.authentication.java.naming.security.credentials.

Did Alfresco 3 drop anonymous binding?

You may already know this, (and it may not change anything for you) but those 2 properties are only used by the synchronization aspect of Alfresco/LDAP integration.

Depending on your company, it may not big that big of a deal to create some sort of "dn=alfresco_synch,ou=system,dc=mycompany,dc=com" user for the sole purpose of doing the synchronization…

Thanks for the reply tvaughan77. You are right, I could create another account but it does work in my 2.1.1 installation so I'm wondering if Alfresco changed something in 3.0 and why they dropped anonymous binding (if they did).

Alfresco, can you please comment on this? Did Alfresco 3 drop anonymous binding?

Alfresco, can you please tell me if, and why, I need to specify the credentials?
