Hi Alfresco,
Recently we have started developing an Application using Alfresco.
Here the point, we are trying to develop our own client (i.e in either jsp/servlet or jsf)…
for that the option is web scripts. webscripts are seems to be a bit difficult.
And is there any alternates for web-scripts ?
ANd we want to develop some custom dashlets for alfresco and share… what are the alternates for this ?
Actually we are new to Alfresco, and we didn't have any good tutorial/books for webscripts and don't know the freemarker.

can we develop dashlets in jsp/servlets ? if then suggest me the environment and deploying process.
for UI, how to call the alfresco repository from our own Ui i.e in either jsp/servlet or jsf?

So can anyone suggest me in this.

waiting for response.

If you are working locally to Alfresco (i.e within the Alfresco Explorer WAR) then you can use the local APIs (Java, Java Script)

If you are working remotely then you need to use one of the remote APIs: Web Scripts, Web Services, RMI, FTP, CIFS etc.

Web Scripts are the easiest and best option and if something is missing or not quite to your liking you can add your own.

You can see here a great example of custom dialog creation: http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=14642
And web-script isn't difficult. It's a very useful thing, i use it for different reports creation.

Freemarker docs are very good: http://freemarker.org/

These should get you started:
http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Web_Scripts
http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Web_Scripts_Examples
http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Category:Web_Scripts

Additionally, there are *loads* of webscripts already in the Alfresco source code. Go and have a look how we do things.
