Hi All,

We are following alfresco wiki documentation to take backup of alfresco repositroy and database -

Backup is being taken without any issue but problem is with backup size. As of now the backup folder size including database repository backup is 60 GB and it will go upto aroung 100 - 120 GB in next month or so. This is creating disk space problem on the server. We also tried to compress the directory which has backup but it is giving error while zipping it saying that size is too large to zip.
How we should go for this and compress the folder to ensure that disk space is saved and atleast we can have 2-3 backups on the disk at the same time. As of now we need to delete the previuos day backup before the today's backup task runs.
Is there any solution for this?
How alfresco deals with the large size backup files and folder to avoid disk space crunch problems?

A quick soltuion in respose will be appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Amol Chavan

Take a look at what you are backing up, you may be backing up too much.   You need the databasa scheme and the content store.   You possibly don't need the indexes.    And you may be backing up content that has been deleted.

You should be able to implement an incremental backup of the content store consisting of a full backup followed by perhaps daily deltas,   there's no need to back-up the entire content store every day.

And make sure you test your backups from time to time…
