alfresco.war

this is only my second post so be gentle and sorry if this is a mis-post.

I have downloaded the 0.6 preview release (tomcat bundle) and I am impressed so far.

I was wondering if there are plans to release an alfresco.war as opposed to a tomcat/jboss bundle.   I am sure there are loads of hosters/IPS out there that have apache/tomcat install in place for jsp hosting and alfresco could be added as a value add quite easily?

I don't have the time at the moment to debug the war file config but I think decoupling it from the servlet container would be a valuable addition and give alfresco a potentially much larger userbase

Hello,

Thanks for your kind comments.

Yes we are planning on having the WAR file downloadable separately from any particular servlet container or app-server bundle. It will be available in this format for the next release, which should happen in the next 24 hours.

Thanks,

Kevin

As Kevin says the next release will have a WAR only bundle available as well but if you can't wait that long the WAR file inside the Tomcat bundle should be deployable in another servlet container as is (providing you've setup the MySQL database and added a JDBC driver to your container).

Basically there isn't anything Tomcat specific in there all the bundle is providing is a pre-configured environment.
