Alfresco Share Flash Preview not working

Hi,

I've installed the following setup:

- Ubuntu 8.10
- Alfresco 3.0 Labs Stable
- ImageMagick
- SWFTools
- OpenOffice.org-headless

Whenever I try to view any document that is not an image (images work fine unless they are very large) the flash preview just shows the loading symbol and nothing else. I'm using Flash 9 developer version in FireFox, so I get a flash error message each time the screen loads:

TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
   at org.alfresco.previewer:ocumentZoomDisplay/onLoaderComplete()

The thing is if I access the webpreview URL directly that the flash is trying to load (http://localhost/share/proxy/alfresco/api/node/workspace/SpacesStore/7491e58b-4839-4f85-b697-96dd687...) I can see the flash preview frames fine, with the pages all playing correctly.

My question is, if the thumbnail service is working fine (I think proven by the fact I can see the flash preview if I access it correctly) how come I can't see it in the Flash previewer?

I'd like to 2nd this question,

I've got the Preview 2 running, and I can see soffice.bin being thrashed(I grabbed the rpms and installed them as I saw people say RHEL's were questionable) and I get the preview thumbnails, but I can't for the life of me generate an error or get a preview…. why?

Make sure you have a more recent version of swftools than 0.8.1 - that version is known to produce Flash movies which, although they might play in a browser, cannot be played by Flex.

Is there a way to check the swftools version?

I too am having problems with thumbnails. This is a new install of Ubuntu 9.04 64bit. I install the deb version of swftools .0.8.1. I  removed it, and downloaded, configured, and installed .0.9 and restarted Alfresco, but thumbnails of jpeg and doc files are not generated. PDF thumbnails are generated, but the thumbnail is 1" x 11" image of the first page.

No errors are logged when starting and stopping Alf. Not sure where to go next.

Sounds more like ImageMagick isn't working correctly. Have a close look at the startup log to check there are no errors around that area.
