Alfresco OpenLDAP configuration

h4deubner
Champ in-the-making
Champ in-the-making
Greetings,

I downloaded and installed the open source alfresco community tomcat package 1.3.0 (alfresco-community-tomcat-1.3.0.tar.gz)
on a testserver. With the local authentification over mysql it works fine. Now I try to setup up
ldap user authentification for alfresco but I am not able to configure alfresco correct so it can connect
to the ldap server and I have really no idea why.

Facts:

1. LDAP configuration

As you see in ldap_conf_1.gif i am using openldap with default attribute types, f.e. "groupOfNames". These
attributes are allready predefined in the ldap-authentication-context.xml, so it seems to be no problem but ..

You see the attributes of the group "users" of the ldap server here. When I create a new user on the ldap server
(usually with cyrus) the new user will be added to this group, so this is the default group for alfresco
ldap user authentification. The attributes of this "user" group are completely different to the defaults.
This is basicly no problem cause I can change em in the ldap-authentication-context.xml. But now look at
the data of the "member" attribute ("memberUid" in group "users"). In the first group (pic 1) you see a
complete DN as member and in the "users" group there are only single usernames noted. The ldap group
configuration of this server is not my work at all and its really confusing for me.

2. ldap-authentication-context.xml

<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>

There can be more than one stack of beans that import users or groups. For example, it may be easier
to have a version of ldapPeopleExportSource, and associated beans, for each sub-tree of your ldap directory
from which you want to import users. You could then limit users to be imported from two or more sub tress and ignore
users found else where. The same applies to the import of groups.

It may be that I forgot to change some values.

Even if I setup up all packages to "debug" in log4j, it ONLY prints this log, that says nothing about what is
wrong for me.

Please tell me what to do, I need the ldap auth for my tests cause the integrated user management in alfresco
is very limited.

best regards,
Matthias

Hi

LDAP group import only supports members defined by DN at the moment.
So your second group structure will not work at the moment. I will put this on the list of stuff to do.

See
http://issues.alfresco.com/browse/AR-1026

You could fix LDAPGroupExportSource to take a configured query for the search …. rather then using the dn only.

I am experiencing the same issue, using OX….

Please could you explain

Maybe a sample code or your ldap-authentication-context.xml would be welcome.

Thanks and regards.
