Hi everyone
First of all: Thanks 4 developing such a great program under gpl!
I've tried something interesting. I wanted to run Alfresco for an small student project to share medical informations and files on an vserver.
For that I had to get an graphical interface in order to install Alfresco. Right now I have an VNC Connection with kde starting properly on it. So I installed the Alfresco package. This worked fine.
The only thing I don't get to work is the openoffice stuff.
Everytime I trie to start alfresco I'll receive the following error-message:
"starting openoffice service:
Xlib: extension "XInputExtension" missing on display "xxxxxxxxxxxxx.net:1.0" Failed to get list of devices.
And then the the hole thing stops.
Then I installed openoffice with the yast stuff. And this openoffice version works fine.
Is there an possibilitiy to use this version of openoffice?
or otherwise: How can i configure the "alfresco" office work?
I've also tried the xvfb thing, but unfortunately this didn't work.
with kind regards
faultier

Faultier,
I know nothing about the open office components so I can't help here. Sorry about that. There are many people here who can, so help will be along shortly.
I just thought it might be important to point out that alfresco as it currently stands is not licensed under the GPL (unless I missed some huge announcement), it’s licensed under the Mozilla Public License 1.1 (MPL 1.1). The current license contains an additional exhibit that is specific to the Alfresco product.
Just incase the licensing is important to you (I hope that it is, given its role in OSS)

Thanks for your advise.
But the license is not important to me and my project.
But still it's good to know!
Thx for that.
so long

hi guys
i solved the problem by running a propper instance of Xvfb on an other displaynumber and configured openoffice to use this display.
Xvfb still reports some font problems but that's ok.
But now i got another problem:
it seems that tomcat doesn't launch in a propper way, because netstat -anl | grep 8080 says nothing and in the logfile of tomcat is only one entry:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
has anyone an idea how to solve this?
I already tried the forum search but i didn't find anything concerning this problem.
Thanks guys

ok i fixed that by my own…
there were some java options to fix.
But now it seems that my 128 mbs of memory on my virtual server seem to be too less.
Damn!
Can anyone tell me if the older versions need less memory ?
Thanks
Alex
