Alfresco on Hosmonster Account

[strykermd]

Hello,

I am completely new to Alfresco.
I was thinking of using Alfresco as a collaborative and enterprise content sharing tool accessible online. For that I have some questions:

- Can I deploy Alfresco online? (I have a Hostmonster Shared Hosting Account)?

- Which version of Alfresco do I need to deploy on Hostmonster? (war, jar, ou tomcat?)

- Can it be totally web-based or does part of it need to be installed on my computer (XP)?

I don't know if my questions are even relevant, but I would be grateful to have some help.

Thanks

Hi

From what I can tell, Hostmonster is a fairly simple Apache-based web hosting company. Because Alfresco requires an application server (e.g. Tomcat) in order to run, this kind of host is unsuitable.

You need to look for a company that either supports adhoc J2EE/JSP hosting, virtual private servers or dedicated servers in order to remotely host Alfresco. A Google search for "Alfresco hosting" will bring up some options.

Thanks,
Mike
