alfresco on eclipse

Hi..
i m new to alfresco.
i just went through few books on alfresco.
I have a project starting up this month end..
So could anyone help how to create my application using eclipse..?
i tried to check out source code by subclipse plug-in but i couldnt(error:RLA LAYER FAILED…?)why??.
so my doubts are
should import alfresco.war n proceed furthr..? or i should build a new project(IF SO HOW TO START WITH?) or anything can be done by SDK…?
which technology to use JSF OR SPRING?
Please provide complete step by step procedure…!
I m newbie please bear with me..

Havn't a clue.    I use Smart SVN and Tortoise.

It depends upon what you are doing.    A remote alfresco project is your code, so you don't need anything.    If you are using webscripts you may like to use the SDK or OpenCMIS.    If you are building code to go inside the alfresco war then the SDK or the source code.     And if share enhancements then you need a UI guy to answer.

That's not an "OR".    And there's a neither option as well.   And I can't possibly guide without knowing your requirements and architecture.

My project needs a workflow management to my understanding.
PL needs to upload documents and it should go to supervisor for approval and some senior cosultant shuld audit it..
i hope u got a brief idea about my requirement.If still need any info i ll provide..please reply with solution.
I got to know i m not able to download source code from eclipse because of firewall issues..so wat is next option?

Your project sounds like an advanced workflow.   You may even find that the sample "review and approve" workflow does exactly what you need.   And if not then its a good starting point.

I don't think any customisation of the source code is required for your requirement.   Start by experimenting and learning about workflow in alfresco.
