Alfresco + OID + Oracle Application Server

Hi,
We are using Alfresco deployed on Oracle Application Server 10g and authentication with Oracle Internet Directory.
We are facing a strange issue. Alfresco does not deploy if we restart/start the server. Application server hangs while deploying alfresco. However, while restarting if we shut down OID, alfresco deployment works fine.

Also, if we start application server without alfresco deployable, application server starts cleanly and then if we deploy alfresco it gets deployed without any issue.

What can be the problem?

You need to give more details,   what for example is in the Alfresco logs immediatly before your system "hangs"

Ok.. Did further research on this.
The problem is while connecting to LDAP in afterPropertiesSet() method of LdapContextFactoryImpl. Aslo, this problem comes only if OID and App Server (on which Alfresco is deployed) is on same physical machine. I tried with OID on another machine and it worked .. The server restarted perfectly.

For thoughts & Observation, evenwhile connecting to OID on another machine, it takes sometime (nrly 1 min) to get back. Between this 1 min, my standalone java program to access OID also gets hanged.

Please provide your inputs what can be real issue ..

I've been looking at the posts for SSO and LDAP and they all, well most of them, seem to be dealing with AD.
This is the only post I've found that deals with OAS and OID. 
We are looking for alternatives to SharePoint and Alfresco seems to be one of the top recommended ones.
I've downloaded and installed the latest Enterprise version and have been able to do some stuff with it including communicating via https.
Now I need to configure Alfresco to work with OAS and OID. 

Could you possibly share what you had to do to get it working.

Ignore my previous comments. Are you really using Alfresco v2.1. A lot of improvements have been made to LDAP support since then.

It looks like the network might be timing out while Alfresco is trying to establish its connection with the LDAP server. Or if connection really is that slow, it's the problem of OID, not Alfresco. Trying pinging the ldap server from the alfresco server. Then trying telneting to the LDAP port, just to ensure it is reachable.
