Hi,

I have installed Alfresco Labs 3 and followed all the instructions found here: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Installing_Labs_3 but when I try to login to the share using "admin" as the username and passworld like it says here: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Installing_Labs_3#Starting_the_web_client then I just get this error:

Failed to Login
The remote server may be unavailable or your authentication details have not been recognised.

Anyone know the right username/password combo or what the problem could be?

To clarify, you need to have the old Alfresco client working at http://localhost:8080/alfresco/. If this isn't working after following installation please explain how you did the installation as there might be an issue with the files / instructions.

The previous Alfresco client starts the repository and related services up. This is used by Alfresco Share client to provide all the content services using web scripts. You can run the Alfresco Share client in a separate Tomcat instance on a separate server. Even multiple servers. However, they will need to connect back to the Alfresco reposiory services.

Got it working, finally.

It seems that the problem is with the windows binary download.
I downloaded the zip version(http://downloads.sourceforge.net/alfresco/alfresco-labs-tomcat-3a.1032.zip?modtime=1217543689&big_mi...) and it worked just fine.

Had the same problem, but it was solved after I downloaded alfresco.war file (packaged for Linux) and replaced the one shipped with installer.
I have tried this, but it was not solved.

It seems that the problem is with the windows binary download.
I am going to try to download this file.

As it turns out, it's not problem with the windows binary.

It seems that this problem occurs when first start Alfresco and you don't wait for all the startup process to finish. This takes a couple of minutes.

Yes, it seems that it is just a matter of waiting before it works. You have to wait some additional time after the "Server startup in xxx ms" has appeared.

When the port was returned to 8080, it reconciled though the same problem
existed when the port had been changed from 8080.

Alfresco Share login continued to fail for us even with the above suggestions. Our problem was we had changed the default port from 8080 to something else. There are several config files that must be changed to accommodate this:
    *  $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/wsdl/administration-service.wsdl
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/wsdl/dictionary-service.wsdl
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/wsdl/content-service.wsdl
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/wsdl/authoring-service.wsdl
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/wsdl/access-control-service.wsdl
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/wsdl/action-service.wsdl
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/wsdl/authentication-service.wsdl
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/wsdl/repository-service.wsdl
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/wsdl/classification-service.wsdl
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/share/WEB-INF/urlrewrite.xml
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/share/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/pagerenderer-config.xml
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/share/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/webscript-framework-config-test.xml
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/share/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/webscript-framework-config.xml
    * $ALF_HOME/tomcat/webapps/share/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/webscripts/org/alfresco/indexall.get.mediawiki.ftl
After changing these files, login worked.

Hope this helps

No other users but admin are able to log into our Share, but all users can log into http://localhost:8080/alfresco/

I get
Failed to Login
The remote server may be unavailable or your authentication details have not been recognised.
The server has been running for days so it is not the (re)starting issue and we use the default 8080 port.

Any ideas?

I get the identical problem ("Failed to Login") as the original post.

Prior to my "Share" installation I had an older Alfresco running, and now neither works. Tomcat starts, but can't get further.
