alfresco is not running rather giving error status 500

i have installed alfresco for the first time.now when i try to run alfresco on localhost it gives me error status 500,although tomcat is running but it is not displaying the page of alfresco.if plz some one can help me out.

You need to find and post the alfresco.log file before someone can help you.
