Hi all,

In August last year i read in the news that Alfresco will be available in Ubuntu as a deb-package.
Does anyone know when this package will be available?

I've been wondering about this as well.  I never saw any more info about it.  I figured they were waiting on either the new Ubuntu or Alfresco, but both have come out now.

Do you mean it'll be available in the Ubuntu repositories?  I don't think I'd like that at all when Alfresco is so simple to install in the first place.  Ubuntu (and this isn't limited to just Ubuntu) packages tend to be at least slightly out of date, and package maintainers just love screwing with config file locations  (just try installing tomcat via apt-get…a silly mess, especially considering that installing it "the hard way" is a simply a matter of untarring a single archive).

I'm curious as to if/when they'll do this.  I've been waiting since middle of last year.

As for alfresco being easy to install,  sure you can install it easily enough.  However,  configuring it to actually be usable is a different matter entirely.

Has anyone had any luck trying Alfresco on Ubuntu?  Any thoughts?
