Alfresco FTP Server limitations

Hello,

we have a requirement to exchange files via FTP with customers.

Number of customers: approx 100k, approx 100 files per user
After input of credentials the external user should be connected to its own FTP home directory
FTP content should be replicated with a second internal Alfresco instance

Does it make sense to implement the external FTP Server in Alfresco?
Which FTP server Alfresco is using?
I´m not sure about the best way to create a folder structure of 100k folders. Flat or nested?
Of course we have to consider other aspects to optimize performance (like indexing, search engine, caching,…)

Thank you very much for your opinions!

Depending upon the volume of updates you may also want to consider a bulk ingestion process.

If you do decide to use ftp then I'd structure it with some sort of hirarchy.   100K enteries in a flat structure over any file system protocol is going to be problematic somewhere.

eg:
-A
–Andrew
–Antony
-B
–Brigit
