Alfresco does not auto-update after installed AMPs to alfresco.war

Hi,

I have installed Alfresco Community 4.2.c. However, I found after I installed an AMP to alfresco.war (under tomcat/webapps/). The AMP cannot be loaded automatically when I restarted the service/server. I have to manually delete the folder "Alfresco" (under tomcat/webapps/) before starting the service/serve to get it(the AMP) loaded.

It looks when the Alfresco runs from the server at the first time, the alfresco.war will be unpacked into the folder "Alfresco". But it will not automatically unpack the .war file if there is an "Alfresco" folder exists, even the alfresco.war has been updated (i.e. installed an AMP).

I just started to use Alfresco. So may I ask whether this non-auto update feature is meant to be or there is a configuration that I have missed?

Thanks,

Hi,

once you have copied the amp to the required location (amps folder or amps_share folder), you have to run apply_amp OS script to deploy it.
After deploying the amps, the folder tomcat/webapps/alfresco or tomcat/webapps/share are removed by the script, it's part of the job of that apply_amps script.
Please have a look at http://docs.alfresco.com/4.2/topic/com.alfresco.enterprise.doc/tasks/dev-extensions-tutorials-simple... for more explanations.

So what you've done is right, but if you use apply_amps, it will be automatic.

Thanks for the reply. This is very helpful.
