We are basically looking for an LCMS to store our course ware from the existing LMS, and are looking for a way to integrate Alfresco into this.
Our requiremnts are
1) Upload with security for contents
2) content may be folders with workflow for the folders…
3) preview of content - courseware which may be compliant to different formats
Does Alfresco provide workflow for folder staructures which may be uploaded in zip format.
Also can the workflow be called through web services? We wanted a simple workflow - with submit-review- reject/approve - publish step
thanks
Vidya

Hi Viday,
1) What part of security do you mean ?
The security settings for uploading are always those, relating to the user ,who logged in (or mounted the networkshare). The Targetspaces have a set of security rules, which apply to all content inside, if not set to different settings explicitly. Upload can be done via HTTPS
2)
Alfresco does not care, if its a folder structure inside the zip file. You can define business rules, acting on content objects, beeing files or folders. In these rules, you can trigger workflows or start actions as well.
3) Do you mean a thumbnail or a reduced content preview ? (e.g. The first 3 slides of the PPT) ?
The first one is possible.
The second one isn't
Thirdly, you can use a flash-preview of the content. Go to the alfresco website and do a "testdrive" for Alfresco Share to checkout your formats.

Thank you for the quick reply Norgan,
By preview of courses , I had meant if we can preview entire folder? We wanted to give review capability to the folders and preview the course.
I have one more question
If we use Alfresco's Web Services, will we be able to configure and do workflows on these folders?
