I'm am very impressed of what I learned about Alfresco so far and are considering to use Alfresco as our intranet. As far as I can see Alfresco covers almost every demad we have.
The only problem I have right now is a very simple thing but I fail to se how to do this (perhaps because I still have a lot to learn) is how to get one of the most basic intranet functionallty to work. A news feed.
I guess that one should contribute a content to a space. But how do I put this content as a news-feed to other users?
I don't talk about pubishing a intranet here but I would like to have this function inside alfresco itself. Right now it it the only pitfall I found for us to use alfresco.
Newsfeeds are also supplied "OOTB" … simply go to any space, select View Details for the space and then scroll down and "Apply RSS Feed Template" … any new or updated news item will execute the associated template and regenerate the feed.
Glad to hear that Alfresco meets your requirements.
I have been looking at the RSS-feed for a while now but I can't wrap around my head how I can use this to present that as a newsfeed for a user that just logged in?
Could you please provide me with a short explaination of how a news-contributor or editor can put the newsfeed on a dashbord or something that the user can't avoid at logon, just as a normal intranet?
I have orderd a book about Alfresco to continue my investigations but I'd really be happy if I could remove this point from the list of things that are in the way of a decision.
