alfresco admin access to sites in 3.2

Hello,

I'm using Alfresco Share 3.2, and I want to be able to add/invite users using an administrator account since there are times when site managers either do not have the time or it is just more convenient to be able to add users outright.  However, I just realized that if the "admin" account (in the Share) has not initially had access, then I can only join the account as a consumer!!!

The primary question is: How do I go about configuring Alfresco Share to give the admin account full access to any share site without having to join or request invite? for any of the sites?

I think this is a critical issue since the admin users should be able to manage and control sites regardless of who created the site (in the extreme but sometimes necessary case).

Thanks,
Edwin

Hi Edwin,
that is not quite true … there are setups, where people go through extra pain to prevent admins from even read access Smiley Happy

But to talk about your question, maybe a custom made business rule in the /sites folder will do, but be carefull to test this thoroughly, this is "share-hacking", i am afraid.

I only mentioned a few reasons why there is a need for global administrative access.  In an enterprise setting, for example, the organization may need to assume the manager role if a current user leaves or is fired before role can be transferred.  How do I handle that situation?

The neatest part of Share is if you only have one manager and they leave the company, Sync removes them from the system and now no one can be added to the site as there are no managers and no way to add a new manager since Admin can't do it.  I am discussing this in another thread however thought I would write this here as a reason for needing this.  True admins are usually IT staff who are considered trusted individuals and it's understood they should have this access.  I find it funny that in a system like Alfresco who is by default setup to allow anyone to create sites and manage them potentially creating millions of abandoned sites in the system, that they would actually take the energy to restrict admins from administering the site.

I just got this after moving alfresco to a new server. I guess the kerberos principal is subtly different because after the first sync on the new machine, all site memberships got lost. So now I have tons of sites with no managers  Smiley Sad
