Alfresco 4.2 nightly and media files problem

As the 4.2 nightly should fix all problems with 4.0d, I tried installing the version from october 1st. This is a fresh install, not an upgrade.

One of the first things I tried, was the new media viewer. And where the Add-on for 4.0 form Share Extras works great on the 4.0d-installation, on the fresh 4.2 install, I get the following message on the detail screen 'We are unable to connect to the content you've requested. We apologize for the inconvenience'. This is the same for an mp4 and an flv that used to work with the mentioned add on for 4.0.

There are no warn or error messages is the logfile.

Does someone have a suggestion how to fix this?

It is likely that it (the media viewer addon) needs updates for 4.2. I've done some to make PdfJs viewer work with 4.2, but not tested the other ones.
Together with Will Abson we should be able to get an update out to match the 4.2.a community release.

Thanks for your response, but I think you understood me wrong. On the 4.2 I didn't install any add ons: it is a fresh install.
If I understood it right, 4.2 should be able to show certain media files out of the box. But I get the mentioned error instead.

You are using the Rich Media Gallery View for Document Library in the document browser?
This module doesn't add any additional viewers, but in the document library creates a nice image based overview of files.

If a file doesn't display correctly here it is most likely due to transformations failing. To get images of videos you may have to use the share extras media viewer addon, it is a feature of that addon to be able to create images via ffmpeg.

Checked the 4.2 blogpost on 'Kev's Blog' another time, but can't find anything about included media viewers. So it appears that I'm the one that got it wrong…

But in that case, I think it's strange that for exactly the supported video files, the mentioned error appears.
Is this because in 4.2, Alfresco thinks everyone should install the Media Viewer add-on and therefore made some preparations in Share for those file formats?

Hi,

observed the same behaviour here using media-previewer-2.0 and 4.2.a. Seems like a regression. Reverting

return proxy + …

to

return Alfresco.constants.PROXY_URI + …

in web-preview.js (getContentUrl and getThumbnailUrl) fixed it for me. No clue what flash's actual problem is though. Smiley Happy
