Alfresco 4.2.e - edit online in share view

Hi everyone.
I have installed new version of Alfresco (4.2.e) on Ubuntu 12.04 server version. I have also changed the edit link type in web-client-config.xml to webdav.
In /alfresco view there is now edit online button and works fine with IE. In /share view there is also edit online button next to site's files, but there isn't next to repositorie's files and I know it should be like that. Unfortunately the edit online function doesn't work in /share view.
I have tested it on Windows7, Windows XP, MS Office 2003 and MS Office 2010. When I click on edit online button, firstly I am worned that the file may be dangerous. I click OK and then the connection with serwer is establishing and I get error that the file 'http://alfresco1:7070/alfresco/site_name/documentLibrary/file_name.doc' can't be open.

Have anyone any idea what is wrong? Thanks in advance.

i am having issues enabling edit online option on 4.2d bitnami stack. I followed the guide and added following into alfresco.global.config

vti.server.external.host=bitnami
vti.server.external.port=7070
vti.server.port=7070
vti.alfresco.deployment.context=/alfresco
vti.alfresco.alfresoHostWithPort=http://bitnami:80
vti.share.deployment.context=/share
vti.share.shareHostWithPort=http://bitnami:80

But still edit offline shows.


We have 3.4 version that works with same settings so can you tell me is there something new on version 4 that i need to configure?

Ok it has been working all the time . I was looking under my files where it doesn't give online edit option, but under sites it gives me edit online and it works.

Can anyone answer me if edit online functionality is possible in share view? I browse my documents in share, site view and I have the edit online button, but the document doesn,t open. I get error that the file 'http://alfresco1:7070/alfresco/site_name/documentLibrary/file_name.doc' can't be open.

have you set the configuration of SSL and Microsoft office register on client post?

A couple of things that you need to make sure you have configured correctly.


If you are using SSL please make sure you have a valid certificate.
Make sure that you have your authentication subsytem setup correctly.
Firewall settings, both on the server and possibly your gateway.

I know for our circumstance we had a lot of problems with the vanilla install of Alfresco's SSL certificate through tomcat.

We ended up using Apache (front end) to handle all the SSL communication. There is a lot of documentation on how to set that up.
