Hello,

I just spotted an issue on alfresco, I'm not sure it is a bug as I'm not able to reproduce it.

A user report me that he can't open anymore a .ppt file.

The error is : "Access denied. Contact your administrator".
This error show up when I try to open the file from cifs.

If I download the file from the web interface I don't have any issue.

If I change the name of the file the problem desappear.

If I remove the file from alfresco and move it again using cifs (without changing the file name), the file has exactly the same issue. Although I can open it on my computer without any problem.

Seems to be a cifs issue.
Did you ever had this kind of issue ?

Hi - I assume you hit one of these bugs:
http://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/ALF-5760 CIFS Access denied if not Coordinator on space 3.4.b
http://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/ALF-3866 CLONE - Access Denied when updating doc via CIFS

The second one prevents you to use 3.3.g CE with CIFS to edit files (for normal users) at all. Only Admins can work around that
The first one is related to WIN7 and Office(2007/2010)

dward reported that it's fixed in HEAD but not in which revision. Maybe one of the Alfresco developers can give a hint for the classes and revision not to search thru the revsions?

in fact Alfresco crashed because of a (Too many open files).
We are using the following limit : 16384

I would please to provide more information about the issue of the locked file, but I don't have any lgo associated with it.
If I get a chance to collect some logs with this random issue, I'll post them.
