Alfresco 3.2 with authbind or privbind?

Hi there
I am trying to bootstrap Alfresco as non root user. We have been presented with a workaround using IPTABLES. Our client does not agree with this option due to their security policies.  I am wondering if we can use either privbind or authbind as an option. if so, what would be the exact instructions to get this working?

We are using Alfresco 3.2 Comm on Linux.
Thanks

It looks like authbind or privbind may work.

Another option to consider is to move the services that use reserved ports to use ports greater than 1000.

And do you need services like inbound email, ftp, cifs etc?   You may simply be able to turn off those subsystems which are using reserved ports.

I am also interested in using privbind on the official Alfresco Community 3.2r2 release for Amazon EC2. Currently I have alfresco IMAP running on port 8443, but this would be blocked by many corporate firewalls. Is this a matter of editing the tomcat init.d script? If so what section should I experiment with?
