I just downloaded the liferay / alfresco bundle.  Just to be sure, this bundle just includes alfresco's web client running inside liferay correct?

It doesn't appear to have any further integration with the repository.  I just want to make sure i'm not missing something here.

Hi Russ

Currently, it is just the same level as with JBoss portal - a JSR-168 portlet deployed inside the portal.  We'd love to see LifeRay and JBoss able to switch to using the Alfresco repository more fully 🙂

Cheers
Paul.

There has been some talk of simple portlets that provide some integration, are they available via SVN?

There's nothing available yet - and they are not on the up coming roadmap. They are the kind of thing we were hoping the community would develop.

Thanks,

Kevin

I just think that the bundle is useless, because you just put alfresco inside liferay, but the login integration is none.

I think we need to make a SSO first rather than this bundle.

for this bundle, I prefer to use alfresco as server and liferay as portlet server, and make new portlet that can read alfresco.

but the login is not integrate yet.

Fthamura,
If i understand you you would like to see alfesco run as a seperate repository and for a portal like liferay to be able to connect.  You also would like to see some form of distributed single signon (SAML or something)?

I can image a few topologies.  Certainly I think alfresco is hearing a lot of people asking to be able to run the repository on a seperate server and for tooling like the webclient to be able to connect to the remote repository.  I dont know if its so, but I think there is a sort of hold on the remoting because standards that would really add value here are on the verge of initial release.  iECM for example.

I can also imagine a topology where a portal running on top of a JCR repository is fed by a central alfresco repository.

I am curious. would you mind giving us your use case and wish list?

my use case, you can see the SugarCRM like alfresco, it is cool idea right

i just host my website using alfresc, can you see http://www.meruvian.com,

what do you think of that?

we need a news, or syndication, i just think liferay is a good start, we use it for our another project http://www.igos-source.org

now, we want to make alfresco become a digital library, and want every user can access to the digital library of alfresco, in the liferay page, but of course, he dont have to login, with a single login,

in this case, i am glad if my meruvian can become a portal where a portlet is a content of alfresco.

and of course if my meruvianj power by liferay, i still can use my alfresco as my java digital library, smiliar with my igos-source.

do you get the point? basically, the bundle is relevan if, the user is become one, and of course the role also become one.

i see both liferay and alfresco are very weak in role management, because no feature to create role there.

If i understand, single signon is important to you.  You also want to present conent from the repository [alfresco] in the same way you can use the liferay cms today.

I think both of those things are very possible and may be in the works already.  I can't speak directly for the SSO component.  I can talk to liferay about this if you would like.  Feel free to contact them yourself as well. They are great guys, I am sure the will address all of your questions.
