Admin interface doesn't look like the tutorials

Ok I'm using the very latest Alfresco Community Edition and have been attempting to follow the youtube tutorials step by step and I think when I first installed the newest version that the Admin interface looked the same as the tutorials. So I've managed to make a collaboration site, users, user groups, and add users. HOWEVER I now have had enough. I can't use the tutorials since I simply cannot find where and how to add users permissions to the database. I'm at my wit's end.
Is there a reset switch to make the Admin user match the tutorials or am is the newer version simply different and I'm remembering incorrectly?
Any ideas at this point as to how to follow the tutorials – even if it means uninstalling the latest version and installing the one in the tutorials is fine. I just need to finish setting things up so I can understand the entire app.
Thanks a million for whoever may have any idea what silly simple step I am missing here.

Just to follow-up on this - the reason you're seeing a different UI is that there are two web UIs in Alfresco. One "legacy" one called Explorer; this can be found at the "/alfresco" context. The newer UI that the tutorial is using is called Share and can be found at the "/share" context.

To possibly pre-empt the next question: there are two because Explorer is JSP-based and in-process with the Repository whereas Share uses a REST API approach and hence can be hosted on a separate server.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Just wanted to check if there is any configuration is required in Share UI to view Search section in Admin Console?
The reason why I am asking is, I am trying to implement & test Faceted search solution developed Dan Tuffery (ixxus) in Alfresco 4.0.e version and facing similar issue which is being discuss here. In the screen shots at link (http://www.ixxus.com/blog/2012/10/solr-facets-alfresco-walkthrough), I could see Facet manager sub section is visible under Search section in Admin console, which is not visible for me though I am using the similar version of Alfresco, which he had used.

I've verified, If AMPs are properly deployed in my alfresco.war and share.war by locating specific files of AMP. Even I tried to break the code and see if Share also breaks down. And it is happening ..

Appreciate any help!
