Adding Functionality to a Site

Hi Everyone,

I am testing Alfresco for my small business to see if we will purchase it as an ongoing solution.

We have created a site, and I can add collaborators and content however, we can't add any other functions. For example, a calendar or wiki. At this stage I am only accessing the Free Alfresco Network in the Cloud.

Some guidance on how to resolve this would be appreciated.

Building a site

Now that you've personalized your own dashboard and profile, you're ready to set up a site.
Collaboration in Alfresco is based around the concept of creating sites that teams can share content in, but an Alfresco site is more than just a place to share and manage content. You can schedule and manage meetings and calendars, publish blogs and set up forums where you can have team discussions, and even write content online and publish it to wiki's.

Creating your first collaboration site
The first thing that you need to do is to create a site framework.
Customizing the site dashboard
A site's dashboard displays all information and activities associated with the site. You can customize the site dashboard just the same as you did with your personal dashboard.
Adding pages to a site
In Alfresco you can add functionality to your site such as a discussion forum, a wiki or a blog. These are known as page components.

you can get detail step information here http://docs.alfresco.com/4.1/index.jsp
browse Alfresco Documentation > Getting Started tutorials > Getting Started with Alfresco in left tree

Sorry, but that did not help at all. I have already setup a site, the options to add blogs, wiki's etc is not there…..

I have now installed a copy of Alfresco (4.1.5) onto my pc, and I can see a 'Customize Site' in the 'More' menu. However, it does not seem to have any synchronisation options with a copy of Alfresco in the Cloud. Which is what we need.

On the site I have created for our organisation I can not see a 'Customise Site' option in the 'More' menu. And I can not see anything in the documentation to indicate that Alfresco in the Cloud does not support this.

We need a collaboration site in the cloud so multiple users can access it. We have limited permanent infrastructure to install and administer ourselves.

I am beginning to think that Alfresco is incapable of offering a straight forward service for potential customers to trial.
