Add SwimLanes

Please guide how to add swimlanes in process using BPMN editor. Dragging Lane icon is not working.Is it neccessary to have some group or user defined in Identity MAnagement to create a swimlane. I am new to Activti, so need guidance.

Drag a pool onto the canvas first, then you can drag lanes onto it.

Note that lanes have no identity management meaning in BPMN, they are for documentation purposes only.

   I just wanted to confirm wether pools can be represented as different process defination in activiti or APS if yes then how ccommunication and navigation can happen between pools if any examples would helpfull
