access to alfresco from outside

I've installed Alfresco community 3.3  on windows and I wanted to know if Alfresco offers the possibility to access the staging sandbox from the outside of my LAN or not?
I've done some researchers, but I couldn't find any clear answer. Can you please help me or give me clues ??
While doing my researchers i've found that VPN may actually resolve this problem but i couldn't understand how, i will be greatful if you can help me finding a solution

It depends on which interface you want to expose.   But its just standard network configuration whether your LAN or VPN allows connections to alfresco.

I have to look for software tools that permit access to alfresco from the outside, can you explain more your point of view or please if you can post links that can help me find this solution
i have to allow users to acceed to alfresco via url or something else although they are not  connected to the LAN (outside the company)
does webdav have any relation with the establishing of this solution?
