3.2 Labs on Debian Lenny + PostgreSQL - fail

Hi guys,

I am trying to set-up Alfresco 3.2 Labs on Debian Lenny with PostgreSQL as the backend. I have followed:

When I start Alfresco, the CPU usage surges for a few minutes, and then dies down to normal levels. I then try to access:
http://my_server:8080/alfresco/

What I get is:
"HTTP Status 404 - The requested resource () is not available."

When I try accessing http://my_server:8080/, I get nothing.

No tables are being created in the database.

Any help much appreciated!

Currently the 3.2 Community release does not support PostgreSQL. However, an update will provided to add support for PostgreSQL. An announcement will be be made on the Forums as soon as it is available.

Hi,

thanks, downloaded and installed:
1. stopped Alfresco;
2. placed the file in /opt/Alfresco/amps/ dir;
3. run /opt/Alfresco/apply_amps.sh
4. started Alfresco;
5. tried to access myserver:8080/alfresco.

and got (after about 5 minutes of waiting!):

Error 404 - The requested resource () is not available.

There also have not been any tables created in the pgsql database. Should I create those manually somehow?

Seems like it didn't help much.

Hi,

Your error is:

ObjID already in use

This is normally due to a previous instance of Alfresco not shutting down cleanly, or another app using the rmi port that Alfresco is trying to use - and not anything to do with the PostgreSQL use.
Have a search in these forums for your error - the most common way of getting rid of it is to reboot your machine to free up any ports that have been stuck open.

thanks, did a search and got it going.

for the record, the problem was due to a hostname change (in /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts); after a reboot (so that the new machine name was being used by alfresco) all works AOK.

I can't get it, though, why alfresco triesto connect to <machine_name> instead of simply using "localhost".

I had the same issue with Debian Lenny + Alfresco 3. I concluded that…

Problem: Error Starting Alfresco - java.rmi.server.ExportException: internal error: ObjID already in use

Symptoms:

• Accessing http://localhost:8080/alfresco returns "Error 404 - The requested resource () is not available."


• alfresco.log:
  • org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException: Error creating bean with name 'org.springframework.remoting.rmi.RmiServiceExporter' defined in class path resource [alfresco/emailserver/email-service-context.xml]: Invocation of init method failed; nested exception is java.rmi.server.ExportException: internal error: ObjID already in use
• netstat -lpn shows that port 50500 (RMI port) is not in use


• Pinging the hostname shows replies from an IP not in /etc/hosts

Cause: Alfresco needs to be able to connect to the server using its hostname

Solution:

• Solution A
 
• The hostname returned by 'hostname -a' should be defined in /etc/hosts as an IP active in the host. Examples:
   
• /etc/hostname: myhost
     
• /etc/hosts: 127.0.0.1 myhost
   
• /etc/hostname: myhost
     
• /etc/hosts: 192.168.0.2 myhost
 
• alfresco webapp should be accessed through the hostname: http://myhost:8080/alfresco

• Solution B
 
• Access the alfresco webapp by IP:
   
• http://127.0.0.1:8080/alfresco
