What retry options does activiti allow?

What retry options/buttons does Activiti have in place? What can be done if an API fails or an attempt to publish status changes fails?

The question is very generic to provide an answer. Could you please provide more details, may be with a few use case examples? When it is an async job, the default retry is set to 3 times. You can read more about it here.
