Vic is a multiplatform desktop client that aims to provide a gateway into Alfresco from multiple data sources in a familiar “explorer†like manner.
Vic connects to Alfresco using CMIS and presents the repository in a hierarchical folder structure as well as displaying locally mounted file store and IMAP enabled email repositories. Files and emails may be dragged & dropped into or from the Alfresco repository.
Vic enables files to be edited directly from the Alfresco repository by automatically checking out the file, copying it to the local workstation and opening it using the appropriate workstation application. When the edited file is closed, Vic copies the file back to Alfresco and checks it in.
Vic can also display and edit file metadata and can search for text and metadata within the Alfresco repository.
The desktop client was developed using the Eclipse Rich Client Platform and is designed to be extensible.
Now (v2.1.1, Nov 2013) connects to Google Drive.
