I've been applying some changes to my alfresco community project locally. Now i want to apply the same changes on the server. I've copied the tomcat folder. Is that a good idea or is there a better way to do it? Thank you for your help.

What you should have been doing is to have a SDK project, and use that to package your project as a jar or an amp, and then use that artifact to deploy in any server you need.
