Are you using the UI (Share / ACA) to create the new version?

I am seeing exactly the same error popping up in ACS 7.2, although it's not a plain-vanilla installation. This is a cluster with three servers with read-only ACS for indexing, and another three nodes for Share and CMIS apps connecting to Alfresco.
