Hosting multiple repositories on the same server

What do you need to do to create multiple repositories on the same server? Do you need to redeploy the Alfresco app for each instance? Can we share the application server instance so that we don't have to open new ports for new instance?

I also wonder the answer to this question.
If it is possible to host more than one repository in an Alfresco deployment, then it would be possible to host an ASP solution supporting more than one customer.

I am wondering if there is any way we can host multiple repositories on the same server. This might require us to disable the Company Home space access to all the other instances and provide the common space for each repository with the company name. I am not sure how this can be achieved. Can some one in this group throw some light on this?

TIA

I am also very interested in the possibilities of hosting an ASP solution. Does anyone have more information on this?

Thanks.

Kind regards,

Edwin

I would recommend using server virtualization to do this.  Each virtual machine could contain a prebuilt alfresco install.

Check out http://www.enomalism.com

We could provide the alfresco image if anyone is interested.

this topic has been open for two years…

is there no answer to the original question?

or, is there a reason it can't work that way?

Hello,

As far as I've seen, Alfresco currently has been not been designed for ASP (Application Service Provisioning) implementations.

Are there plans to implement support for multiple repositories from the same "instance" of Alfresco?

This could be a first step to provide ASP support (assuming the creation of one indipendent repository for each customer).

I've seen the other posts suggesting the use of a virtualization technology (VMWare or similar, I guess), but although this approach has a number of other benefits, it would not be as elegant as having a version of Alfresco enhanced to provide support for multiple, indipendent and concurrent document repositories…

Hi

We have been prototyping an extension that does provide multi-tenant features.  At the moment we're looking at whether it's worth pursuing.

Cheers
