Is it possible to create domain specific tasks/service tasks with the web-based UI?

The idea is to have reusable components that can be used by several processdefinitions to achieve common tasks. If not, are there any other options when it comes to create common tasks that are reusable between processes?

You will have to create custom stencil to achieve that. Custom stencil allows you to define custom tasks which you can utilize in your process whenever you create process using those new stencil.

Hey Magnus,

Custom stencils are only officially available in the Enterprise edition and to this point aren't really documented.
However, there is a blog post from 2014 that goes over an early version of Custom Stencil creation which should give you what you need.

As well as custom task stencils, it is also possible to create custom property field types in Activiti Enterprise.
