Anyway to put the Repository on a remote share?

I am running 2003 R2 w Labs 3 Stable and mysql - We have a Buffalo NAS dedicated for the content that we want to put into Alfresco. My 'front end' is a VMWare Server - can we put the repository (and any other data files I dont know about yet!) on the NAS? If so how??? I realize it is not recommended but we are gig connected across the board so we shouldn't have a latency issue.

Many thanks for any help you can give!

BTW I went thru the cluster guide with the idea of picking out the pieces I needed but ended up confused.

Your content is stored on the filesystem with the location pointed to by the repository.properties.

In particular the settings for dir.root, dir.contentstore and dir.indexes.   Which should be fairly self-explanatory.

So to move your content store to a NAS what you would do is
A) Mount your NAS device on your alfresco server.  On windows this will show up as a drive letter.   On unix will be part of a filesystem.
B) Shutdown alfresco.
C) Copy your content store to your NAS device
D) Change your custom-repository properties to point to your content store on your NAS device.
E) Start up and test alfresco.
