Version set on document when not expected as per setup

Hi, 

I currently have uploaded a document via CMIS using the folder.createDocument method, I have set the VersionState to NONE, despite that I see that the document has been created with a version of 1.0 . I have also not set the versionable aspect at the site or folder level so there is no versioning enabled as such for the document.

Please can you help me understand why versioning is set on the document?
